Mission Statement

Bluewater Bible College & Institute exists to provide quality theological education that equips students for effective Christian ministry in the Caribbean and beyond, grounded in Baptist distinctives and biblical fidelity.

Vision

To be the leading Caribbean Baptist institution for theological training, producing graduates who are biblically grounded, ministry-ready, and committed to strengthening local churches throughout the islands.

Doctrinal Statement

BBC&I affirms the following doctrinal positions:

  1. The Scriptures: We believe in the verbal and plenary inspiration of the Scriptures. We accept that the Scriptures are inerrant and should serve as the Christian’s only authority for faith and practice. (2 Tim. 3:16,17)
  2. The Trinity: We believe that God exists equally in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (Gen. 1:1; Jn. 1:1; Acts 5:1-4; 1 Jn. 5:7)
  3. Jesus Christ: We believe in the virgin birth, sinless life, physical death, and bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ. (Matt. 1:23; 2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Cor. 15:2-4)
  4. Salvation: We believe in the eternal salvation freely provided by God, to all who personally trust in Jesus Christ alone for the forgiveness of their sins and life everlasting. (Jn. 6:47; 14:6; Acts 4:10-12; Eph. 2:8)
  5. The Holy Spirit: We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells all true believers, empowering them to do the will of God on earth, and sealing them until the day of their redemption. (1 Cor. 6:19; Eph. 4:30)
  6. Creation: We believe that the universe and all that inhabits it are the direct results of God’s creative act. We believe that God created the universe and all that it contains in six consecutive days of 24 hours each. Therefore, we do not accept theistic or naturalistic evolution as truth. (Gen. 1, 2; Col. 1:16)
  7. The Fall of Man: We believe that mankind, although created in the image of God, is in a state of rebellion against God. The Fall of Adam into sin catapulted the mankind into isolation from God, whereby mankind now sins by choice and by nature. The only hope of redemption lies within the salvation offered through Jesus Christ alone. (Gen. 1:26-27; 3:1-19; Rom. 2:10-12; 3:21-26; 5:12-21)
  8. The Church: We believe that the Church is God’s divinely chosen institution for this time, given the responsibility of evangelizing the lost and edifying the saved. (1 Cor. 12:1-26; Eph. 4:11-16). Leadership is defined as pastors and deacons (1 Tim. 3:1-13; Tit. 1:5-9). The ordinances of the church are baptism by total immersion and the Lord’s Supper — for saved individuals only, with no regenerational qualities. (Matt. 28:19; Col. 2:12; 1 Cor. 11:23-32)
  9. Angels and Satan: We believe that angels exist as the ministering agents of God, while Satan and his demons exist to hinder and corrupt the work of God on this earth. (Heb. 1:13,14; 2 Cor. 4:3,4)
  10. The Rapture: We believe in the rapture of all believers prior to the Great Tribulation Period. (1 Thess. 4:13-17)
  11. The Second Coming: We believe in the personal, visible, and premillennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Rev. 19:1–20:9)
  12. Eternity: We believe that all who are saved will spend an eternity of conscious blessedness with God in heaven; and all those who reject the message of the Gospel in this life will suffer an eternity of conscious torment in hell. (2 Cor. 5:1; 2 Thess. 1:7-9)
  13. Cessation of Sign Gifts: We believe that the gifts of healings, miracles, tongues, the interpretation of tongues, and prophecy were temporary gifts, and are no longer valid manifestations of the work of the Holy Spirit. (1 Cor. 13:8-10)
  14. Against Prosperity Gospel: We believe that the “Gospel of Prosperity” and the baptism of the Holy Spirit as a “second work of grace” are unbiblical teachings and should not be promoted or practiced by believers.

Statement of Practice

Bluewater Bible College & Institute holds firmly to the Baptist tradition of faith and practice. We stand against the philosophy, position, or practices of the World Council of Churches and any denomination, church, or religious organization that sacrifices its commitment to Biblical Truth for the sake of ecclesiastical unity. We do not tolerate apostasy in any form or fellowship with those that do. We further stand opposed to Liberalism, Neo-Orthodoxy, New Evangelicalism, and Hyper-Calvinism.

Spiritual Commitment

Bluewater Bible College & Institute holds to a fundamental position regarding the interpretation of God’s Word. We hold to a literal interpretation of the Bible, allowing the principles found therein to serve as the foundation of our curriculum and standards. All classroom instruction is presented from a Biblical perspective, and all activities outside of the classroom are designed to promote positive spiritual growth in our student body. Regular chapel services, prayer groups, dorm devotions, church attendance, and ministry participation are all part of this school’s commitment to see our students develop a life-long passion for Jesus Christ in their personal lives and ministries.
